BURRUM TOWN DEVELOPMENT UPDATE

BURRUM TOWN HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR SOME TIME…………
HERE IS THE LATEST INFO ON THE COUNCIL OWNED LAND
…………………………………………………………………….
Letters between us and the council indicate they will consider selling
but need certain info supplied to them first.
This info has to be supplied by way of engaging consultants etc at the cost of the applicant to put forward various reports on the different aspects of the development.
The problem with this is the expense of doing so and then the thing goes out to tender and the expense not reimbursed to the original applicant.
Does not compute….Someone would have to pay for this assessment up front. Council perhaps or at least some way of compensating for the applicants costs for doing the assessment.
For the record the following is presented to our members……

As advised, none of the submissions received covered the issues satisfactorily.  For Council to consider this matter further, it would need to be assured that these matters were addressed appropriately, at the developer’s expense, and yes, tenders would need to be called.  To my knowledge, Leigh Bennett’s engagement by Council is not related to this matter.  If you wish to put forward a further proposal, please mark it to my attention.  thanks

Hi Janet :-*

Thanks for the response.
I take it that the earlier submissions made by myself and others did not fullfil the reports ‘criteria’ needed by council.
If the necessary detailed reports were supplied to council on the matters raised in your email attachment herein,
then I take it the council would give due consideration to the sale of the property providing the guidelines are followed and the property once again put up for tender.
The reports would have to meet your requirements and would have to be compiled at ones own cost I assume or is that what Leigh Bennett has been engaged by council to do and from his assessment council would be setting guidelines on the sale to a developer?
I have CC’d this email to our president and my associate local developer John Turnbull and Leigh Bennett.

Hello Henry
Your previous submission was presented to Council in 2005, along with other submissions, and Council agreed unanimously that no submission be accepted.  Subsequent to that the attached brief was drafted and was forwarded to you and others to assist in any future submissions regarding the development of Burrum Town.  The situation remains the same, with the issues outlined in the brief needing to be addressed before Council can consider any further proposals.  thanks

Thanks for the reply 🙂
What project does ‘this’ refer to in your response?
We at the chamber were of the impression that you were collating info
on local community project needs and aspirations to assemble in some form to present to council for assessment after you give your input to them
based on the needs of the communities you visit.
Your response gives us little or no information.
Can you elaborate Leigh?

Hi Henry

Sorry I am only engaged with the Council for this ??project, so cannot help or comment on the matters below too much.  Janet did do some work on Burrum Town but I will have to leave that for the current Council to answer.

cheers

Hi Leigh 🙂

We appreciated your input at our last chamber meeting at Howard .
I had emailed you some stuff on projects in the area
Can you comment on any of them as an advisor to council ?

*Also when you were in council the Burrum Town presinct was on the agenda
I submitted a proposal for developing the parcel after council had called for expressions of interest
It [the project] was shelved for some reason by Janet Campbell.
I was wondering what the status was for the Burrum Town parcel as far as the council was concerned.
Can my proposal  be resurrected and is it still on file to be reassessed once again and perhaps detailing any shortcomings so one can possibly make adjustments to the submission so it fits in with councils criteria
