COUNTERFEIT $50 NOTES IN FRASER COAST AREA

COUNTERFEIT MONEY IN BANKNOTES SHOW UP IN THE FRASER COAST

SIX incidents of counterfeit money being presented to businesses have been reported in Maryborough and Hervey Bay during the past month.

The Maryborough District Criminal Investigation Branch has reminded businesses and consumers to ensure they check their cash.

If you suspect you have been given a counterfeit bank note, handle the suspect note as little as possible and store it in an envelope.

Buisnesses could check CCTV footage to see if they can identify who gave them the note.

Present the footage to police when reporting the matter.

Note any relevant information, such as how it may have come into your possession, a description of the person who gave it you and a companion or vehicle the person may have been using
