SO YOU THINK YOU ARE HAVING A BAD DAY – CHECK THIS LOCAL STORY

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

John- Owner of  the Torbanlea sawmill  Contract Timbers

A POTENTIAL NEW MEMBER OF THE BURRUM CHAMBER

john-tlea-mill-1

Recently you may have heard of a lone traveller getting attacked and killed on the highway near Gin Gin Qld.

1…It was Johns wifes’ brother. Brutally bashed a couple of weeks ago by a total stranger it seems when he ran out of petrol on the highway. Used dental records etc to identify him.

I was visiting John on another matter when he and his family were making funeral arrangements.

2….He tells me that recently two of his best mates were blown up into little pieces when an industrial accident in Brisbane  involving acetyline and bottled gas took place. Scraping body parts off the walls I was told.

3….Also on top of all this his younger sister was diagnosed with spinal cancer.

I WAS THERE TO VIEW HIS HUGE NEW 15 FT X 5FT X 5FT FISH TANK

A one off creation made from laminated glass specially brought up from Melbourne.

This huge expensive aquarium lay in a grossly mangled shattered pile in the yard at John’s place .

It has self destructed into fragments a few days earlier because of a faulty design he had used to manufacture same.

ALL THIS IN A SHORT SPACE OF A FEW  MONTHS.

THE WORST 4 MONTHS OF MY LIFE WAS HIS COMMENT

MURDER 'OF' THE ORIENT EXPRESS – TRAIN WRECK AT TORBANLEA – QLD

Friday, July 31st, 2009

THE TRAIN CARRIAGE HAS FINALLY BEEN PUT TO REST

@ TORBANLEA QUEENSLAND

WEDNESDAY MORNING 29th JULY 2009 IT WAS DEMOLISHED

SMASHED INTO A MILLION PIECES AND TAKEN AWAY FOR BURIAL

………………………………………………………………………………………………..

It must have cost the Fraser Coast Council a lot of money to demolish this carriage. Somehow the sentimental solution for the carriage could have been for it to be moved to the museum location at Howard and restored.

Somehow it did not add up to the people in council to do so.

FULL POSTAL SERVICES FOR BURRUM HEADS-SIGN PETITION

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

BURRUM HEADS

NEEDS A POSTAL SERVICE

ico_post_large

We have had a new resident to the Burrum district comment on the wonderful services available here, which we always like to hear….VERY NICE. But……

There is a flip side though. This person thought this idyllic seaside area of Burrum Heads would be the perfect place to wind down after a long day in the office, perhaps flick through a newspaper, or even read the mail delivered that day. Burrum Heads has come of age and now has a wealthier, affluent stable population

fcrc1

THE LOCAL FRASER COAST COUNCIL AND THE AUSTRALIAN POSTAL SERVICE MUST CORRECT & UPGRADE THIS LONG OVERDUE SERVICE NOW.

Imagine the shock, when you have built a beaut home, with a grand and matching letterbox, only to discover there is NO mail delivery to the suburb at all. It appears there won’t even be mail delivery until someone starts a petition. If you think the simple solution is to get a post office box, it’s not!

There is a waiting list for them already…

Thankfully the post office is operated by the general store, so if you are lucky and leave work early you might still make it in time to get the mail once a week or so.

Unfortunately the new resident really needs to be in touch with the world, and even in this society technology has not removed the need to receive mail from time to time.

So join the list to have the right to get the mail delivered.

THE DAYS OF THE PIDGEON CARRIER ARE OVER

IN THE BURRUM – IF YOU AGREE, THEN………..

SIGN THE PETITION BY DOWNLOADING IT FROM OUR WEB SITE HERE OR ASK THE SECRETARY FOR A COPY.

IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO DO EITHER EMAIL ME TO EMAIL YOU BACK A COPY AS AN ATTACHMENT FOR YOU TO DOWNLOAD AND PRINT.

MORE AGED PERSONS UNITS IN BURRUM DISTRICT

Monday, July 20th, 2009

HERALD NEWS PAPER DOES A FEATURE

herald-news-logo

ON AGED CARE UNITS IN THE BURRUM DISTRICT

concpetproperties_image

In 1976 a suggestion at a local meeting in Howard to create
housing for seniors resulted in a six year campaign from
almost every sector of the local community to raise funds,
lobby government departments, and do whatever had to be
done to achieve the goal…
August 28 marks twenty eight years since the first Burrum
Aged Units were opened, a remarkable achievement for the
small hard working district.
Now in 2009 there are 32 Burrum Aged Units throughout
Howard and Torbanlea, providing safe and secure housing
for seniors. These units are an integral part of the community,
and plan to develop further in the future.
Burrum Aged Units are creating a special feature in conjunction
with the Maryborough Herald, showcasing a little of its
history, and the people who are part of it.
Burrm Aged Units have nominated you as a special community
and/or business partners now, and for the future.
We invite you to participate in this special anniversary feature,
and have negotiated special discount advertising rates
to encourage your participation. Help make this a feature to
remember, and to remind the broader region of the achievements
of the Burrum.
Promote your products and services, place your special message
for Burrum Aged Units, promote your seniors specials,
to 11,700 readers with this great feature.

Please phone Edith Rutherford on 0409 609 971 cellphonex073

as she visits the Burrum district, or fax to (07)4122 4734,

* In the event that some of you are confused as to where the units are that have been depicted in the photo above, be it known that approval to build similar lakeside aged seniors accommodation units may be sought from council @ Annie St Howard in the near future by Wide Bay District Developments Pty Ltd. Note the headline of MORE units in Burrum.
